About HostingDive
Independent hosting reviews built on real data, real test accounts, and a genuine commitment to helping you make a smarter hosting decision.
Who We Are
HostingDive is run by The HostingDive Team — a group of web developers, system administrators, and digital publishing professionals who got tired of hosting review sites that were little more than marketing dressed up as journalism.
We’ve collectively managed hundreds of hosting accounts, migrated dozens of WordPress sites, and dealt with every type of hosting disaster imaginable. That hands-on experience shapes every review, ranking, and guide we publish.
We don’t represent any hosting company. We have no preferred vendor relationships. Our only goal is to give you the most accurate, up-to-date picture of what each hosting provider is actually like to use.
Our Mission
The hosting review industry has a well-known problem: most “independent” review sites are paid to rank certain hosts at the top, regardless of actual quality. Introductory pricing gets front-and-center attention, while renewal costs and real performance data get buried.
We built HostingDive to be different. Our mission is simple: help you choose the right web host without the hype.
Honest Rankings
Our rankings are determined by test data and scoring rubrics — not commission rates.
Real Testing
We buy plans, deploy sites, and monitor them for months before publishing a word.
Full Transparency
We disclose affiliate relationships, our own hosting setup, and our scoring methodology openly.
No Paid Placements
No hosting company can pay to appear higher in our rankings or reviews.
How We Test Hosting Providers
Every host we review goes through the same structured evaluation process. Here’s the short version:
Uptime Monitoring
UptimeRobot checks every 5 minutes for 12+ months — thousands of data points per host.
Speed Testing
GTmetrix, Pingdom, and Google PageSpeed from multiple global server locations.
Load Testing
Loader.io stress tests simulate real traffic spikes to find breaking points.
Support Evaluation
Timed support tickets including evenings, weekends, and high-difficulty scenarios.
True Cost Analysis
Full 3-year cost modeling that includes renewal rates, not just introductory pricing.
Security Audit
SSL implementation, WAF availability, backup systems, and malware scanning features.
Each provider receives a score of 1–5 in every category. A weighted overall score determines final rankings. Read the full methodology →
🔍 A Note on Transparency: We Use Hostinger
HostingDive.com itself is hosted on Hostinger’s Business plan. We disclose this openly because it gives us firsthand, day-to-day experience with one of the hosts we review. It does not mean Hostinger gets preferential treatment — our scoring is applied identically across all providers. Hostinger ranks #1 because our data says it does, not because we’re customers. You can verify this by reading how we score each category.

Editorial Standards
HostingDive operates with a strict separation between our editorial content and our commercial relationships:
- ✓No hosting company can pay to change, remove, or influence our review conclusions

- ✓All affiliate links are clearly disclosed on every page that contains them
- ✓We correct factual errors promptly — if you spot one, let us know
- ✓Data collection dates and last-updated timestamps are shown on all reviews
We earn a commission when you click our affiliate links and purchase a plan. This doesn’t affect our editorial positions. For full details, see our affiliate disclosure page.
